Welcome!

After attending the ground breaking ceremony in October, 2010, Mary Ellen Ipiotis was inspired to create a BLOG about the massive desert rose sprouting forth on sacred grounds in Sandoval County.

C'mon in! Please make yourself at home. Join me with your commentary, questions, stories, photos, video's, any information you would like to share... about the new medical center, the land it is on, the people and places in the area, anything you think people would like to know.

Mary Ellen is listening and will be on the look out for you ~

Peace and Love

Wrapping up another month looking forward to new idea's, new plans, new days and nights hopefully filled with all the things that make us better people.

We wish for the best of things that make life lovable, livable and laughable. We are filled with hope everyday that things turn out well, safe, happy and healthy and able to keep negative surprises at a minimum.

So, bring on the new month as we take it on for better or for worse that include the challenges and obstacles. Let's look for the good when things seem so bad and offer love and respect in those moments when we have the opportunity to make life more doable. Peace and Love ☮

August

Another month gone as another month waits in the wings. It is only a matter of hours before we get the chance to kind of reboot, start something over or begin a new project or endeavor. It is a month of change and adjusting to different things we may or may not like but still needs to happen. School, appointments, places to be, people to meet and greet, maybe comfort or commiserate with.

We try to make the best of every day gifted to us, to be better, blessed and a blessing.

May the new month of August bring you joy, peace, comfort and good health. ☮

Be Well

If you are not feeling well, hope you feel better as soon as possible.
If you are sad and lonely may happiness, find you and be a regular presence in your life.
If you are anxious in despair or afraid know, peace awaits. Be brave, breathe, calm yourself quietly as soon as you can for as long as you can.
If the weather, the world, all things big and little raise your temperature, make your head and your heart hurt, take refuge in your own strength (you are stronger than you think) remember all the good places and people who strive to make life more livable and lovable. Be well.

Seasons

The transition from season to season is sometimes subtle and sometimes happens in stark contrast from the previous season,

from a pleasant Autumn day to chilly overcast and rainy skies. The weather has a great way of reminding people who is in charge.

Hope your September 2021 was good and October will be better, happy and healthy.

Places Of The Heart

Here's to the superb, strange, wonderful, mysterious and sublime. To the things that make sense and the moments of enlightenment when they don't. To people and pets who make life livable and lovable. To art, science, space, time and places of the heart that can only be described as glimpses of heaven, where the sound of a baby cooing makes cherub angels blush with delight, where joy is like oxygen and peace is the most powerful weapon on the planet.

Here's to light in the darkness, understanding for the misunderstood and prayers for deliverance from a painful journey. To a good path to navigate and the strength, health and faith to take you where it leads you. Here's to a good life, good people and people trying to be good, for a clear view of everything we hold near, honor and cherish.

For this world of wonder one prays for resolution of wars, conflict, unrest. To consolation, comfort, kindness and a humanity that strives for justice and equality, for priceless, timeless love, compassion, respect and landmark times in life that make us pause to reflect on such places of the heart.

Something Special

A community takes pride and is reassured in knowing certain resources are available and on the ready to care for it's health and medical concerns. The University of New Mexico Sandoval Regional Medical Center (UNM SRMC) is one of those invaluable resources the people of Rio Rancho and Sandoval County of New Mexico have in place. All of the planning, building, setting the stage for this medical center is now being realized.
The healing grounds face the East with a clear and panoramic view of the beautiful and rugged Sandia Mountains. The sight is fantastic and immediately one can feel and see something special about this corner of the world. The brilliant light and big sky surrounding the hospital blend together perfectly in the high desert as innovative research and state of the art medical technology blaze trails in the Northern end of Rio Rancho. Quality health care and medical education are at the forefront as General Medicine practitioners and specialist's provide hope and help in Obstetrics and Gynecology care, Geriatric services, Orthopedics, Non-invasive Cardiology testing and treatment to Behavioral Health support, Emergency Medicine, a Radiology Department, classrooms, clinics and laboratories.

As a teaching hospital it is possible for an individual to go from patient or visitor to student learning a specialty providing care to the people who pass through the doors. UNM SRMC is a treasure put in place by the community itself, it is a landmark of excellence, an important presence in the lives of those who can count on it being there when the need arises to diagnose, repair, teach and rely on far into the future.

Joy & Pain

Joy is a jewel, a sparkly slice of life that smears smiles on people's faces. Joy warms the heart and nourishes the soul, it tugs on your heartstrings, can make you cry and laugh, giggle and feel good all over. Pain is raw and strikes indiscriminantly at the young and old, boys and girls, men and women of all ages, it can leave as quickly as it appears or linger and loiter in the body and mind oblivious to it's unwanted presence. Joy and Pain are opposites felt, seen and heard in obvious manner, sometimes invisible as it moves about with reckless abandon.

Pain bites hard, it punctures, the sting is sharp, also quick to come and go without warning, unannounced like an obnoxious uninvited guest. Emotional or mental pain can be silent or exude deafening screams as it runs rampant and out of control. Each hot tear begs for relief from the intruding tangles, tears, breaks, burns, blocks, ruptures. You scramble for ways to rid yourself of any pain or anguish.

The joy of seeing a child happy and healthy after surviving a life threatening illness, a therapist helping someone breakthrough a former limitation, someone being appreciated for their help, good news about long awaited test results or completing a job well done while improving the quality of someones life in the process. Joy is an elixar of life!

At the end of the day it is comfort, peace, big and little, subtle and spectacular things and moments that bring you joy, outweighs the pain and make life more livable, happier and healthy.

Respite for The Weary

Sending good vibrations, thoughts, prayers to the brethren weather beaten on the East Coast and other locations where people are displaced and defeated and depleated by the storms (which are not all that far away from here if your looking at the earth from a distance) in the hopes that resources find their way to the current lost tribe of people who are full of despair as to what, where and how.

Who can say when our lives turn upside down and why.  What on earth is a person to do when everything you hold dear, your most precious possessions and essential means of daily living, is gone, when even loved ones struggle to survive man made or natural disaster.  How can life be so cruel?

Like a child with outstretched arms longing for someone to rescue her, hold her, to comfort and warm him. I wish all lives in peril, in harms ways, in fear, isolated... Peace. That somehow deep in the core of your soul, there is respite for your weary hearts and bones.
I hope you have hope and the means to start over, to begin anew after recovering from the shock and reality of the devastation.

I wish I could take your pain away and offer consolation and recourse, a safe and warm place for you and your loved one's. I pray you have the strength and will to pick-up where you are forced to leave-off and leave behind from the disruption that shakes you to the core. I pray you find your way to a place where you can begin to rebuild your lives and leave the wreckage behind, able to start over, be well, strong and carry-on.

Due Date

The anticipation grows as the hospital nears completion. It is kind of like everyone eagerly awaiting the arrival of a brand new baby. The waiting and wondering about how everything will be, will the child be healthy and happy, have all it's senses, fingers and toes, curly hair or any hair? Will it look like this person or that one? Will the newborn that is almost ready for delivery- continue to evolve into the best it can be?
"God Bless The Child" and pray this miracle will always be safe, properly cared for, loved and respected, in turn, treats all people with kindness and is a blessing constantly striving to be good and on the ready for whatever life has in store, and is able to stand tall with strength, courage, confidence and knowledge far into the future. ~

Miracles

The first day of November arrives right on time, not a moment too soon as the new month begins, opportunities beacon, fresh beginnings await, possibilities abound and miracles wait for the perfect moments to occur. Landmark days take place, births, deaths, sickness and health require attention and tending to.  The second to the last month of the year seems to hold a certain mystery, and wonder stirs in the cool, clean air.
People get on with their lives, living as always, one day at a time hoping each day is better than the day before, hoping to stay healthy and happy or continually striving to get there. As seasons change, challenges emerge to remind us of the realities of life, of what was, what might be and hope the future unfolds peacefully, that life's lessons are gentle, kind and encouraging and that burdens are lifted, do not linger and move out much quicker than the days you wish... would last forever.

Port In The Storm

A medical center is like a treasure chest of resources available to the public, in the name of good health. People look upon hospitals as a port in a storm, an oasis in the desert, a beacon in the night, rescuer and refuge. A medical facility holds many a possible cure, prevention, detection and answer to a wide range of problems. The potential to make a difference, sometimes between life and death- for many people, is always in place as the new Sandoval Regional Med Center prepares to  make a profound impact on the lives of the patients and visitors as well as students, teachers, researchers, staff, faculty and administrators. *It takes a village and very dedicated people to raise a hospital, especially since the hospital is such an important part of the village and represents a microcosm of the world.

The new University of New Mexico Hospital in Rio Rancho is shaping-up and stands stately near Rio Rancho City Hall, Rio Rancho High School and the thriving city.
The public medical center will be home to a state of art School of Pharmacy, Speciality Clinics and Therapeutic Departments, Hospital services range from Behavioral Health, Medical and Surgical to a wide array of learning and career development opportunities for the community.
