The moon is very close to earth at this time in accordance with astronomical science and generations of study involved with the vastness of outer space, and if the night sky is clear in central New Mexico on June 23, 2013 the moon will naturally appear extra large and extra lovely.
A big moon means a beyond beautiful and brightly lit night filled with an air of excitement and mystery. The lunar pull is like someone opening the blinds wide ready or not as the moon glow creates an irresistible energy the darkness must yield to the illumination meanwhile shadows shimmy and shake and bounce around hiding from the brilliance of the super spectacular moon. It is quite something to behold.
Life seems more alert a bit more tuned-in to it's own sensibilities and of matters not visible to the naked eye. Perhaps the roar of creation becomes a gentle purr as we are somehow more mindful of the infinite, the unknown, the massive amount of things we cannot even imagine much less understand. It keeps one guessing, wondering and waiting for the next amazing thing within our reach and far beyond.
Medicine Sky is intended to share a wide variety of information about the UNM Sandoval Regional Medical Center, it's progress during construction, the story behind the community and the people who are involved with it's development. Also found in this Blog are: the culture, history, heritage, art, food, form and function of all things considered in connection with the hospital.
Welcome!
After attending the ground breaking ceremony in October, 2010, Mary Ellen Ipiotis was inspired to create a BLOG about the massive desert rose sprouting forth on sacred grounds in Sandoval County.
C'mon in! Please make yourself at home. Join me with your commentary, questions, stories, photos, video's, any information you would like to share... about the new medical center, the land it is on, the people and places in the area, anything you think people would like to know.
Mary Ellen is listening and will be on the look out for you ~

April ☼ May
With a warm embrace April waves goodbye to May, like two old friends with a long history and much mutual respect and affection. The seasons roll into the other sometimes quietly and sometimes as if in a constant state of transition. Gears shift, the cycle of life continues on cue in accordance with time and the rhythm of life. Another Spring is upon us and the light of day grows longer, the earth springs forward, it is new yet very familiar. There is a brand new sense of hope, anticipation for good things to come, new possibilities, the end for some and the beginning for others.
Here's to days filled with peace and goodness, fresh perspective and health of mind, body and soul.

Respite for The Weary
Sending good vibrations, thoughts, prayers to the brethren weather beaten on the East Coast and other locations where people are displaced and defeated and depleated by the storms (which are not all that far away from here if your looking at the earth from a distance) in the hopes that resources find their way to the current lost tribe of people who are full of despair as to what, where and how. Who can say when our lives turn upside down and why. What on earth is a person to do when everything you hold dear, your most precious possessions and essential means of daily living, is gone, when even loved ones struggle to survive man made or natural disaster. How can life be so cruel?
Like a child with outstretched arms longing for someone to rescue her, hold her, to comfort and warm him. I wish all lives in peril, in harms ways, in fear, isolated... Peace. That somehow deep in the core of your soul, there is respite for your weary hearts and bones.
I hope you have hope and the means to start over, to begin anew after recovering from the shock and reality of the devastation.
I wish I could take your pain away and offer consolation and recourse, a safe and warm place for you and your loved one's. I pray you have the strength and will to pick-up where you are forced to leave-off and leave behind from the disruption that shakes you to the core. I pray you find your way to a place where you can begin to rebuild your lives and leave the wreckage behind, able to start over, be well, strong and carry-on.

EQUINOX
An Equinox is a astronomical phenomenon that occurs twice a year. The Autumnal Equinox occurs on or about September 23rd, which as it happens this year, is the first day of Fall, and the Vernal Equinox which usually takes place around June 22nd, the first day of Summer. It has to do with the day and night being equal in length. The Northern Hemisphere will see longer days/shorter nights and the Southern Hemisphere will see longer nights/shorter days. The broader meaning of an Equinox, signifies a centering and shift. The sun can be seen vertically above the earth as the axis of our planet does not tilt one way or the other, the balance between night and day remains as delicate as life itself, and as precious as it is powerful.

Axis
This week the Summer Solstice occurred. Wednesday, June 21st marked the longest day of the year. From the North Pole, earth's axis tilts, a perfectly orchestrated symphony of time and space, the cosmos speak, "mother earth cries, heaven-the holiest of holy places, smiles",.. from Carlos Santana's classic 70s anthem; Europa. ☼ The sun tugs gently on her precious head, considering the magnitude, longitude, altitude and overall physical nature of the power and purpose of this annual spectacle, it is epic, dynamic, calculated and colossal in scope for this star gazer while nothing short of a miracle.
Since before the dawn of time, yet more evidence of the magnificance beyond measure, of the blueprint of the cosmos laid bare for all to behold.
☼ Suddenly in the middle of the day the sun is suspended at it's farthest from the earth. The maneuver is done in such a way that it does not appear to interrupt life as we understand it, or does it?
Again shifts occur, Summer is underway yet this part of the world draws closer to the shorter days of winter. Fascinating, unfathomable, the possibilities and variables, complexities-- in keeping the world spinning precisely. Given the vulnerable, amazing design, form and function of planet earth and it's dwellers.., humanity has endured much while evolving into a curious collection of life at it's worst and best, it's darkest and brightest.
